Gather your family and loved ones for a fantastic time of ice skating at the Winter Wonderland ice rink in Princes Street Gardens Edinburgh. It’s a fun and healthy way to enjoy your Christmas in Edinburgh and our ice rink is open day and night!
Even if you’ve skated before, or if this is your first time on the ice, a few tips will ensure you will keep out the cold. Who knows, you might be the next Jayne Torvill or Christopher Dean.
To keep out the cold:
- Wrap up tight - a warm skater is a happy skater!
- Wear gloves to protect your fingers
- It is recommended that you wear long thick socks when wearing ice skates
- An extra pair of socks in case your feet get wet
- Skirts are not recommended, trousers are warmer and more comfortable
- Wear a hat to keep your ears warm
- Please skate carefully and with consideration for others
Cloakroom:
We have cloakroom facilities available at 50 pence per item.
Safety:
Read the safety notices at the ice rink situated at the Box Office and Skate Hire. These rules are for your safety and the safety of others. Please abide by the ice rink regulations. Any skaters not abiding by the regulations will be removed from the rink.
All patrons skate at their own risk.

- I don’t have skates. Can I hire some?
Yes. We have hire skates to fit everyone's feet. From child size 5 to adult size 14 (EU: 23 to 48)
- Is there somewhere I can put my belongings while I skate?
Yes. We have cloakroom facilities available at 50 pence per item.
- I’ve never skated before, is there someone there that can help me?
We have highly trained ice monitors skating at all times for your safety. Our staff will be happy to give some hints to help first time skaters find their feet on the ice - just ask!
