Edinburgh Evening News
Winter Wonderland is one of the UK's largest open air ice rinks. The rink nestles within East Princes Street Gardens, whose trees are twinkling with thousands of lights. Behind is the stunning backdrop of Edinburgh Castle providing a unique magical atmosphere for both skaters and spectators.
We are delighted to announce the arrival of a La Gaiete, a traditional Belgian Spiegeltent. It will play host to a children's show “Jolly Jango Christmas” in the mornings and “White Magic”, a Christmas Cabaret for all the family in the evening. The evening show features magicians, Australian drag queens, local hip hop group Etch 'n' Sketch, slapstick comedy from the Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppets and outrageous fun from Clive Nicholas Andrews. La Gaiete will be open throughout the day service coffee and a full bar service.
Ice Rinks
Winter Wonderland hosts one of the largest outdoor ice rinks in the UK and this year has introduced a children’s ice rink for the under 7’s to try their skating skills. Double Bladed Bob Skates are available for those under 7’s who need that extra bit of balance.
Snow Slide
Don’t miss out on the Snow Slide fun for all the family. The new bouncy snow slide is suitable for all ages including mum and dad.
Snowball Cars
New this year are the Snow Ball Cars. Bump around and chase the giant snowballs in the bumper cars. Cars are suitable for all ages.
Bungy Dome and Children’s Rides
The Bungy Dome is in the lower gardens where the children can tryout their Bungy skills. For very young children there are the gentle fairground rides to delight and entertain.
Mulled Wine
Try our delicious mulled wine and mince pies or shortbread, which you can enjoy in the ice rink area or by the Ice Gallery
Hot Food Stands
Savour a mix of contemporary and traditional hot and cold food and drink while watching the children skate. Hot coffee, tea and hot chocolate are on offer to keep you warm.
To keep out the chill wrap up warm with hats, gloves and woolly socks all of which can be purchased at the Winter Wonderland shop.
