Gar Murran

My name is Gar Murran. I'm 28 and I’m from Dublin. In September '06 I won a Bulmer’s Comedy Competition in Dublin and the prize for this was to perform two nights supporting Puppetry of the Penis in the Olympia Theatre in Dublin to over a thousand people.

HEAT 2 WINNER

Jack Whitehall

Jack is one of the youngest stand ups on the circuit; he has played at many of London’s top clubs from the Comedy Store to Banana Cabaret and although new his fast paced sardonic style and intelligent material are already gaining him much attention with Chortle describing him as a 'force to be reckoned with.'

Carl Hutchison

I am very excited to have advanced to the semi-final; the thought of being up there in August is getting through the long day at work. I hope the audience enjoys them selves because I certainly will, I'm very much looking forward to it, see you soon, all the best.

HEAT 4 WINNER

Joanne Lau

Joanne Lau is a Canadian-Chinese comic based in the UK. She started performing stand-up in August 2006 and has since been a finalist in 3 new act competitions, and come 2nd at the Nivea Funny Women Awards 2007. Off-stage she describes herself as shy and nerdy, but "in a cool way".

HEAT 5 WINNER

Toby Whithouse

The pinnacle of Toby’s acting career was once being a question on Telly Addicts. He knew he could never sustain that giddy level of success and so became a writer. He has written episodes of Doctor Who and Torchwood. This is Toby’s third attempt at a career.

Richard Sandling

Richard is a native of Essex. When he isn't mounting his one man assault on the nation's comedy circuit he collects Original, Big Boxed Videos, watches Sci-Fi and reads comic books. He is fascinated by Giant Squid and Fortean Phenomena and knows a hell of a lot about films.

HEAT 7 WINNER

James Marsh

Having performed drunken comedy accidentally at parties for some time, James has grown tired of the phrase "you should seriously do some comedy, dude", and so in an attempt to prove his drunken, phraseologicaly americanised friends right he took to the stage. The rest is very recent and largely undocumented history.
