If you’re new to stand-up comedy, haven’t been performing regularly before June 2014 and think you’ve got what it takes to join the cream of the comedy crop then this is the competition for you!
So You Think You’re Funny? is the leading amateur comedy competition in the UK and has seen the likes of Peter Kay, Lee Mack, Sarah Millican, Johnny Vegas, Dylan Moran and Jack Whitehall as winners or finalists in previous years.
In the same way that the brewers at Drygate have worked tirelessly to perfect the recipes for their selection of craft beers, we’re perfecting the recipe for the ultimate in Friday night entertainment!
Gilded Balloon Comedy at Drygate Brewing Company returns in 2015 for a new and improved evening of comedy every 1st and 3rd Friday of the month at 8pm!

The Gilded Balloon and The Edinburgh Festival Theatre have teamed up for 2015 to bring you the hottest new comedy night in town!
We’re seeing in the New Year with a special introductory show on January 10th to give you a taster of what’s to come EVERY first Saturday of the month until August – that’s right Fringe fans, we’re on a mission to keep the festival alive all year round! And where better to host the event than Edinburgh’s own Festival Theatre? We’ll be commandeering The Studio (the Festival Theatre’s fantastic new venue space) to deliver some of the best acts on the UK comedy scene!
The Gilded Balloon are very excited to announce our partnership with Drygate Brewing Co. in Glasgow. From Friday 29 August, the Gilded Balloon will be bringing comedy to Glasgow every Friday night!

It’s over for another year, and there will be a lot of tired and weary performers travelling home today after successes or failures. There is nothing like the feeling of nearly 4 weeks of flyering, trying to get audiences and the highs and the lows that come with the territory.
Irish funny man Aidan Strangeman, beat off stiff competition from eight of Britain and Ireland’s strongest up and coming comic talents to be crowned the winner of Edinburgh Fringe Festival’s leading stand-up comedy competition So You Think You’re Funny? 2014
